DIY is a common method for creating gels for your speedlite. Buy some gels, cut them to the right size and find a way to mount them to your speedlite. I did this a couple of times before. But if you have to rely on your stuff then the DIY method is sometimes annoying. Because of this I was in the market to find some new gear which is rock solid and convenient. I decided to go for gels from the Honl Photo Professional Lighting System. This article describes my findings about it. More after the jump.
The Pixl King and Pixel Opas units are meant to be compatible. You can trigger a speedlite mounted to an Opas transceiver using the King transmitter. While this is working perfectly with my 7D I've got trouble with my 5DMKII. Read more after the jump.
Sometimes all the hoarded stuff in you gear bag/room needs to be used. A very good reason to do this is when your niece needs some family pictures for school. Of cause you can use you smartphone the get the pictures but where is the fun than?
The Jinbei Easy Softbox is a foldable softbox which can be used with speedlites. It doesn't need much space and it is ready in just a couple of minutes. Everything you need to attach a light stand and the speedlite is included.
I was searching for a replacement of my old RF-602 radio triggers. The RF-603 are no option because of the missing ability to mount them directly to a light stand and the disability to fix the transmitter to the cameras hot shoe.
After a little research I found the Pixel Opas triggers. They are manual radio triggers and offer some benefits.
