Hi Sven !

I have moved from joomla 3.10.12 to 4.4.0, and have upgraded the EventGallery to the last core version 5.1.1

First I have noticed the db hasn't been totally upgraded.. ..the fields publish_up et publish_down of the table eventgallery_folder were missing.. :s

After i have added them, with value NULL in it...

Now no picture is showing att all on the frontend, either on back end...

Any tip for me ?

Hi Edouard,

Those fields are pretty old, adding them manually is not a good idea, this will crash the expected field oedering.

How did you update? From which version of Event Gallery did you start? Did you encounter any error messages during the update?

Well, what i’ve done is the following…

I was in J3.10.12… and i don’t remember which version of eventgallery i had, but for sure it was a pre-2020 version 2019 ? I have disabled the eventgallery as many other extensions that weren’t applicable with j4.4.0… I have installed a template from Joomlart (simpli) and switched to php 8.2.. Mysql is still in 5.7..

Once done, i have seen in joomla database tool that i had a problem with 2 missing fields from eventgallery_folder table. I have added them and set them to NULL for each record.

Actually what i think i should do is maybe manually uninstall eventgallery, while keeping the image folder and reinstall it. What do you think ? But i dont know which folders and which tables to delete to keep my galleries available when i reinstall it… what do you think ? Is there another option ? Do you see something easier ?

Ps) i have tried the phoca gallery instead.. ..but i dont like it… ..yours is way easier and nicer… 😉

We can do two things.

1. Fixing the mess... sounds like there is a lot to fix. Every update is executing database updates. Looks like you managed to skip them somehow.
2. Uninstall. The images will stay on the disk, I guess you're using local images. The database will be wiped. Then install the latest version of Event Gallery, run the Sync Database process, edit the metadata of your events, publish them. Then open any menu item and update it. That is it. The effort depends on the number of Events you have. But you'll end up with a clean setup and avoid any issues later on.
