Hi Columba,
The overflow can't be avoided. your images are too tiny for the text you have to fit in. Try to make them bigger.
- increase the row height
- set the jitter to 0 (this reduces/increases the row height by that amount randomly)
Also, you can think about disabling this kind of effect in the components’ options. Mobile does not support hovering very well. If you have a lot of traffic in mobile devices, this is a straightforward fix then.
I see that some thumbnails look pretty blurry. I think you have a plugin somewhere which tries to optimize image size and quality. Disable it at least for Event Gallery. Otherwise, it can't perform its job properly and will not replace the thumbnails with the right size.
