I see Flickr hosted photo files, and I would like to hide titles. can I do this with the component, or must I hide them touching CSS?

Hi,
there is no option, you would need CSS for that. But you can also switch to one of the other layouts, they don't show the title/caption out of the box.

You can change this in the global options of the component or for every menu item. Check the Tab "Events - List".
