 Hi Sven,

I have been trying to make sense of recursive events under a given category but cant seem to figure it out.

In my example I am displaying a (top level) category with 10 subcategories inside it. I have set "Recursive items" to "Yes" and all the 10 subcategories and all their respective events are shown on the page, subcategories on top and all the recursive events underneath. So far so good!

However, all the events listed under the subcategories are shown in random order - and I'm unable to find a way to control this? So, if my subcategories are in this order: "Birds, Cats, Dogs, Fish, Insects" - then the recursive events underneath the subcategories are listed as "(events for) Dogs, Insects, Birds, Cats, Fish".

In other words, the recursive events shown under a category with more than one subcategory is listed in completely random order which, at least to me, makes no sense. Or am I missing something altogether?

I have tried to sort this out by changing the ordering of the subcategories, using tags, etc., but nothing seems to make any difference to the sorting of the displayed recursive events.

Hoping that you'll be able to help? Thank you very much in advance! :-)

Hi,

having a random order is unexpected. Please check in the components options tab "Events - List" the option for the sorting of events. By default, you should see "ordering" preselected. Maybe this is overwritten at the menu item configration.

Ah, the dreaded menu item setting! (guess I've been away from Joomla for too long!) I must now add that the order was "seemingly" random as, in fact, it obviously wasn't but was controlled by the menu. Problem solved! Thank you! :-)
