Will all previous albums made with the Picasa work (Google Photos) around that currently exists have to be updated to the Google Product (API) in order to work?
I ask as I have approximately 25 albums (several with the maximum amount of allowable photos, by Google, in them) a year for about 5 years. If everyone has to be made info a product, this would be quite time consuming.
Can you elaborate further as to what happens at the end of the year?

Hi Rob,

There is no need to change anything in your Google Photos account. Your albums will be the same; your pictures will be the same. But you need to update every event/album in Event Gallery. The old and the new API is incompatible. I can't offer an automatic migration. I recommend to delete the old events and create new ones. You can reconfigure the existing events as well. With 25 albums in Event Gallery, you need to perform 25 changes.

If you keep the old Picasa Web API bases events, your photos will become invisible since all the links to the Google servers might become invalid. Without any modification from my side, this will happen in January 2019. With the next version of Event Gallery, it'll work until March 2019. But until then you need to switch to the new Google Photos integration.

Apparently, my email reply didn't go through.
I have close to 150 albums in Google Photos for one web site and probably 10 albums on other websites that all use EGE. Is everyone of these albums going to have to be converted to the Google API?
You mentioned that the next version of EGE will extend the old Picasa support until March 2019. Will this be released before the end of the January "invisibility" date?

Speaking with Event Gallery terms, you need to reconfigure your events.

You don't need to touch any albums on the Google Photos site. Your data stays the same. Only the way Event Gallery accesses them changes.

I'll release the next version of Event Gallery soon enough. Still I recommend to switch now in order to make sure, the new Google API works for you.

I guess you're not understanding my question or I'm not asking it correctly.
Am I going to have to go through the new Google API process on every album (150+) that I have linked in EGE?
Example: https://www.tri-statespeedway.com/2018-photos There are 24 Google Photo albums on this year alone and there are four and a half more years before this one. Do I have to go into EGE and change the way EGE pulls the album from Google Photos for every single album? Do I have to complete the whole new process for every album or is it just a one time process for each Google account?

sbluege
We're on the same page regarding the question. You need to change every event.

CyberSpyder
Wow.
Please hurry with the next version so I can have a few more months.

Don't wait until it is too late. Did you read my articles about the Google Photos API on this site? Make your this works for your as early as possible.

I scanned the video but haven't actually tried to do it yet. It may be a few weeks before I get to try it, though.
