the galleries were working before I upgraded now I get
An Error has occurred.

I guess to contains "non url safe characters" like a space or any other special characters? Event Gallery strips them out if you create the folderid. Did you add them again?

Last addition :)
Joomla has a method which makes strings to be used as folder names safe. It strips out any special character. So if you manage to use an invalid folderid, you can't upload anything. Please checke the folder id.
