{eventgallery event="foo" attr="text" type="intro"} this command can you USE tag names instead of the event names.

the thing in the curly brackets is called tag. The one you your example outputs the intro text of an event. It is unrelated to Joomla! tags.

The reason I want to use joomla tags is for band of the month (tag) and a event can have a tag placed in it. The latest events module does have the joomla tag function. But want to display text from the event below the the latest events module. see image

Well... as far as I get your requirements, that's not possible. At least not with the content plugin of Event Gallery. You can reference a fixed event only.

Hi will this function appear in any future updates and or the ability for the new events module to display either full or intro text.

The content plugin will always just output the data for a specific event. If you want to display this text in the module you can simply create a template override and output this data. In this case you don't need any content plugin.
