If you wonder how videos can end up here: this is a new feature in Event Gallery.
It'll be released with Event Gallery 5.2. For users of Event Gallery Extended, a preview is already available. For videos served by Google and Flickr, your server does not need to learn new tricks. For serving local video, FFMpeg is required to create the necessary thumbnails. Hosting providers like Uberspace do offer this out of the box. Videos in Event Gallery are pretty new and considered as an experimental feature. Any feedback is welcome to develop this in the right direction.
