I'm using the Forte template from shape5. The navigation buttons on the displayed photo are in the read more style of the template. The CSS uses a blue, rounded box for read more buttons.

Can I change how Event Gallery defines the next, previous, close and download buttons?

Ideas?

I don't recommend changing the way the buttons are rendered. Instead just add some CSS styles to your templates CSS file to render those control elements the way you want them.

I have no idea how to do this within the complex and interdependent frameworks, so I won't be able to use Event Gallery although I do really like its appearance.

Sorry to hear that. You just need to add some simple CSS-styles to your templates CSS file which remove the change the template applies. Unfortunately I can't spend time on doing the work for you.
