 Hi,

- I have an events list showing a grid of each category. Is there a way to hide the subcategories?
- In preferences I have set the vat to not show. Can I turn it off on the invoice as well?
- Can I change the "thank you" text and email notification on the invoice?

Thanks!
Karen

If you don't need subcategories just use another layout. A list of events should be the better choice.

Event Gallery 3.4 has a new email template system. Just create a new email template, save it and modify it to your needs. This should solve both of your last questions.

HI,

It is the language on the "thank you" page that I am interested in changing. Where can I customize that?

Thanks!
Karen

I just read "email". Sorry.

Use the Joomla Language Manager and simply search for the text you want to replace and create an override. Let me know if you can't find the right key.

Hi,

My images are uploading REALLY slowly. Much slower than image heavy sites like istock so it's not my system. i'm refreshing the page over and over only to have images add one by one. I have them all less than 500 px at 72 dpi so that's not the issue either. I have attached a few pages from the global config so you can see if they are correct.

Thanks so much for your help!
Karen

I guess you mean "download" instead of "upload".

If images load slow your server can't deliver them fast enough.

I found an interesting thing with your server. Generated HTML pages are very fast, but if it comes to delivering images it's very slow. The bigger the image, the slower the response times. Looks like an IO issue or limitation.

Example: http://www.lucideyearts.com/images/gallery/flow/studio%2010.jpg

This image needs to load 3s to load 500kB. Images from Event Gallery are smaller but still need a lot of time to load while reading a simple file from the hard drive.

Hi Sven,

That may well be the case, and there seems to be something else going on. I am attaching screenshots of screen refreshed over a period of a few minutes (you can see the order by the times on the file name). As you can see images load, then reload at another size, then don't load while others load. It doesn't make sense to me. Do you see anything here that gives you a clue about the issue?

Also, is there any way to control how the art is cropped in the preview jpg?

Thanks,
Karen

Your server delivers images slowly. If you reload a page you'll get a random layout which requires different thumbnails.

There is no option to control the copping. But still you can do things to avoid it:

- set the height of the first image to 1 row (it's set to 2 currently). This will avoid cropping thumbnails.
- set the jitter to 0 to avoid random layouts

I recommend doing that in the components options instead for every menu item.

Hi again Sven,

I made sure the cache is on and that did help. But also the images aren't loading to the cart in a timely way. Try it to see.

Thanks,
Karen

What cache do you mean?

The images in the cart load in about 700-800ms which is not that bad.

kckane
I'm talking about the settings for the cache in the global configuration. And changing that to on seems to help.

Thanks for your suggestions, very helpful.

There is something else going on, maybe you have an idea if it's the site or the server. Every time I reload the page different thumbnails have a broken symbol instead of the image-in the backend (attached). Literally, they keep changing, so it's not a cache issue where they load then are in memory. They load, then appear broken, then appear as an image next, then broken again. I have tried to reload the images, but it's not that. It appears random. Any ideas?

Thanks again,
Karen

I did a quick performance test, results are attached. From 10 parallel requests to your homepage 1 or 2 fail. Your server seems to be missconfigured or simple too weak. The error logs should tell the exact reason.

Page Cache does not improve the performance when it comes to thumbnail loading. Event Gallery loads images using a very cheap PHP script. Your server can't process multiple PHP request properly so you see random failed thumbnails. Please consult your hosting provider. I hope they can tell some details.
