 Hi Sven,

I just noticed today, I can't reach my password protected folder anymore. It did work before and I don't know since when the error occurred.
After filling in the password, I'm not forwarded to the folder to look at the photo's and stay on the page where I have to fill in the password. Also, I don't get any error message. When I remove the password, I can look at the photo's.
(My site is experimental for now, and I use the protostar template without changes or overrides.)

Here is the link to the page:
Your text to link here...
To see the effect whats happening, fill in any password you like.

What do I have to do to get it working again?

Best Regards,

Bert

Hi,

I guess this is a cache related issue. Did you enable the Joomla Page Cache plugin?

bertdynamica
Hi Sven,

The Joomla Page Cache plugin was not enabled. I did enable it. I do have another cache plugin that was enabled: Systeem - Regular Labs - Cache Cleaner. I regularly clean this cache plugin.

After enabling Joomla Page Cache I still can't reach the folder with the photo's.

Any other suggestions?

Best Regards, Bert

Please disable the cache plugin. It caches by simple URLs and does not work with dynamic content.

If you Joomla server does not cache, can you make sure, your hosting provider does not add any kind of cache please?

Btw, this link shows how it should actually work: https://www.svenbluege.de/demo/index.php/list/event/test6

Hi Sven,

Thanks again for your answers.

The problem seems to be the PHP-version I have set. My webhoster is Site Ground and I can easily switch to other PHP-versions. The version that I had set up was 7.2.4. After trying other versions, the problem did not occur anymore at version 5.6.35.

The problem occurs at all available PHP-7 versions (7.0.29, 7.1.16 and 7.2.4). So, in my case, PHP-7 was the problem.

Is it possible that you can investigate this in connection with the coming joomla update to version 4 where PHP-7 is required?
Or should it just work in PHP version 7? In that case, what do I have to do to prevent the problem I had?

Best Regards, Bert

I use PHP 7.1 in production and 7.2 for testing. So, in general, this causes no issues. Can you please double check that your server has no caching activated? The server response headers now and before are different.

bertdynamica
Hi Sven,

And another thanks to your quick respond!

I am not sure where to check if the server has no caching activated. Site Ground has the possibility to activate supercacher. I deactivated it for this domain (attachtment 1). Dynamic caching is also deactivated.

In the settings of my site I also deactivated it (attachment 2). Systemcach NONE- caching disabled.

Still having problems with PHP-7 and none with 5.6.35.

Best Regards, Bert

Can you contact the support of your hosting provider, please? Maybe they can shed some light on it.
Since Joomla behaves correctly with at least one PHP version I would say that the software side is fine.
