Is v3.7.2 compatible with Joomla 2.5.28? I was going to just try to install it, but I figured I should ask first. Please let me know. I realize it is an old version, so I appreciate your help with this.

you have already installed the latest version of Event Gallery which is compatible with Joomla 2.5. Newer versions of Event Gallery starting with 3.4 will not work with Joomla 2.5.
