When will image titles, descriptions, and tags be searchable? This would be huge for us, in fact I don't know if we can do without it!

Hi,

I started to create a search plugin for the old Joomla! search a while ago. Until now this makes no sense. Displaying images in the Joomla search result is impossible. At least without changing Joomla! code.

Tags are a different story. So far you can't tag images.

Sven,

Thanks for the reply. I'm no programmer, but it would seem title and description fields should not be that hard to integrate into the search function.

For now I have found a workaround.

For example, when searching for the word 'Coronado' at the domain 'artglassandmetal.com':

This page is included in the Startpage (Google) results:
https://artglassandmetal.com/techniques/cast-glass

The reason the above page shows up in the search is that that page is a standard Joomla article, and I have used the plugin 'Components Anywhere' to embed this gallery into the article:
https://artglassandmetal.com/galleries/cast-glass-gallery

(Interestingly, if one checks the page code for the above gallery link, the word 'Coronado' appears many times in the code. Then again, I'm past the limit of my knowledge of how search functions work.)

In any case, for now embedding the event component into a Joomla article with Components Anywhere seems to be the best workaround.

Hope this helps!

Actually, even title and descriptions are causing problems :( Event Gallery uses a content plugin to support multiple languages for these values. The search component does not support that. Finding stuff is not the problem here, displaying it is what causes me a headache.

If you add something to the article, it gets indexed and shows a useful search result. Because of this, your onsite search finds those items.

As soon as there is a change in the Joomla core, I'll have a look into that again.
